Russell Wilson: Everyone entitled to own opinion

RENTON, Wash. -- Russell Wilson responded Thursday to a perceived jab from Aaron Rodgers about God's involvement in deciding football games, saying everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion.

"I know for me, I'm just grateful that God has given me the opportunity to play the great game of football," the Seattle Seahawksquarterback said. "I'm so grateful. I know that one of the things my parents always taught me is just continue to remain humble in your victories and your losses. And I think that's just the thing that I'm grateful for, just to be able to play the game of football. I love it. Like I said, everybody's entitled to their own opinion."

On Sunday night, Rodgers was asked about the Green Bay Packers' 27-17 win over the Seahawks.

"And then getting help from God," the quarterback said. "I think God was a Packers fan tonight, so he was taking care of us."

Eight months earlier, after the Seahawks beat the Packers in the NFC Championship Game -- an outcome that Wilson credited to God -- Rodgers said on his ESPN Milwaukee radio show that he did not think God is a big football fan.

"I don't think God cares a whole lot about the outcome," he said. "He cares about the people involved, but I don't think he's a big football fan."

Those remarks came days after Wilson said God set up the Seahawks' dramatic comeback win in overtime.

Wilson then reiterated his stance during media day at the Super Bowl.

"I think God cares about football," Wilson said then. "I think God cares about everything he created."
