Ronda Rousey calls role in 'Road House' remake 'a great honor'

Ronda Rousey is turning into a Hollywood attraction.

Industry trade magazine Variety reported that the undefeated UFC champion has been attached by MGM to star in a remake of the 1989 movie "Road House," which starred Patrick Swayze as a bar bouncer who proves himself as a skilled fighter.

Rousey tweeted about the role Wednesday.

A source told ESPN.com that Rousey has not yet signed a contract for the role, but that typically comes further along in the process.

Rousey is no stranger to Hollywood, having had bit parts in "Furious 7," "The Expendables 3" and "Entourage."

Her biggest role is in the upcoming movie "Mile 22" with Mark Wahlberg. She already has committed to play herself after she optioned her autobiography "My Fight/Your Fight" to Paramount.

"Road House" did a modest $30 million at the box office, but it developed a cult following, helped in part by frequent reruns on cable television. The 28-year-old Rousey was 2 when the film debuted.

Rousey (12-0) puts her UFC bantamweight title on the line against Holly Holm on Nov. 14 in Australia.
