PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Houston Rocketsset the NBA record for most 3-pointers made in a season.
James Harden's 3-pointer with 10.1 seconds left in the first quarter of Thursday night's game against thePortland Trail Blazersgave the Rockets 1,078 3-pointers, breaking the mark set just last season by Golden State.
The Blazers won 117-107.
Houston finished 8-of-34 from 3-point range, moving its season total to 1,083, far ahead of the team with the second-highest total, the Cavs, who have 955.
The Rockets have three players -- Eric Gordon, Ryan Anderson and Harden -- in the top 10 in 3-point field goals made.
Thursday's game marked the first time all season the Rockets failed to hit double-digit 3-pointers in consecutive games, according to ESPN Stats & Information. Earlier this season, the team set an NBA record by making at least 10 3-pointers in 27 consecutive games, from Oct. 28 to Dec. 17.
This is the third time a Mike D'Antoni-coached team has set the record for 3-pointers in a season. The Suns did it with him in the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons.
