WACO, TX (KTRK) -- A combination of Pearland hits and Colorado mistakes sends Pearland's Little League All Stars back to Williamsport. Final score 9-2.
Pearland started the game by getting into a one out bases loaded jam, but starting pitcher Jarrett Tadlock gets the next two batters out and Pearland survives its first challenge of the night.
Pearland then strikes back by getting two runs in the top of the 2nd on passed balls and wild pitches after a Zack Mack single and a walk to Marco Gutierrez.
After 3 innings of play, it was 3-1 Pearland when Carter Ostrom hit a home run to left center, his first hit of the series to make it 4-1 Pearland.
The top half of the 4th inning proved difficult for Colorado pitchers and catchers. Walks, wild pitches and passed balls lead to 3 more Pearland runs.
Colorado got back in the game in the 4th, scoring a run to close the gap to 7-2, but relief pitcher Isaac Gutierrez who came in after one out in the 4th kept the game out of reach.
Pearland went right back to work in the 5th, scoring 2 more runs after Marco Gutierrez leads off with a double. Tristan Schwehr's deep fly advanced the runner then Carter Ostrom's single scored the runner. The other run coming from walks and wild pitches.
A scoreless 6th made the final 9-2 and gives the Southwestern Championship title to Pearland for the 2nd year in a row.
Pearland is now one of the 8 best teams in the US. They are headed back to Williamsport for the 3rd time since 2010.
It was last year's Pearland All Stars who handed the Southwestern Championship Banner to the 2015 team.
Pearland leaves for Williamsport Saturday and will play it's first game of the Little League World Series on Thursday of next week.
