Patrick Peterson: 'I mean much more to my team'

Saying he wants to "do my talking between the white lines," Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson shrugged off the idea that some of his peers might get more attention and indicated that he feels he brings more value to his team.

"I don't need to be boastful or brash. 'Oh, look at me,'" Peterson told USA Today Sportson Wednesday. "I'm all about the team. I don't want to take that focus away from the team. At the end of the day, I know I'm the best. I know I can get in the face of the receiver, and I mean much more to my team versus those guys to their team."

One player Peterson was comparing himself to was Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman, with whom he's traded barbs on Twitter.

After Sherman signed a contract extension, Peterson said he deserved just as much money from the Cardinals. Sherman tweeted, "never confuse potential with production." Peterson fired back, saying Sherman wasn't a lockdown cornerback because of the Seahawks' scheme.

Peterson also took a social media dig at Josh Norman in April, telling thenew Washington Redskins cornerback to "know your worth" after his $14 million franchise tender from the Carolina Pantherswas rescinded.

The 25-year-old Peterson told USA Today that he no longer wants to get into Twitter feuds with other players.

He is still rehabbing from April ankle surgery, but he participated in individual drills at last month's Cardinals minicamp and indicated he is on track to be ready for training camp, which begins July 28.

Peterson has 17 career interceptions and has played in all 80 games since joining the league in 2011. He has been named to the Pro Bowl every year in his pro career.
