ARLINGTON, TX (KTRK) -- Three southeast Texas high school football teams play for state titles this weekend, and one has already staked claim to a championship.

In a double overtime thriller today, Navasota topped Argyle, 42-35, in the Texas 4A division I title game in Arlington. Navasota quarterback Shelton Eppler was 30 of 54 for 493 yards passing and four touchdowns. He also ran for two touchdowns.

For the Rattlers, it's their second state title.

Both teams came into this one with perfect 15-0 records. Navasota was the top ranked 4A team in the state. Argyle was No. 2. We'll have highlights tonight on Eyewitness News at 10.

Then tomorrow, the other two southeast Texas teams get their shots at state titles. In two 6A title showdowns, Katy battles Cedar Hill for the third straight year and Cy Ranch goes up against two-time defending champion Allen Eagles.
