A day after missing practice, QB Ryan Mallet practices with third string.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A day after Texans QB Ryan Mallett didn't show up for practice, coach Bill O'Brien still wouldn't talk about it, but it was clear how he felt.

Mallet ran the third string today and when asked how Mallett did, O'Brien responded, "I thought Brian Hoyer had a good practice today, I thought he did some really good things at practice today."

Mallett missed practice on Thursday. O'Brien would only say that "it was personal" and he wouldn't talk about. Mallett has been unhappy since Brian Hoyer was named the starting quarterback earlier in the week.

The Texans take on the Saints Saturday night.
