After a stellar performance to open the college football season against the No. 3 Oklahoma Sooners, the Houston Cougars really threw themselves into the spotlight -- so much so, they are now gaining the attention of ESPN's No. 1 ranked NFL player, J.J. Watt, of theHouston Texans.

Watt opens the video discussing the young talent that the Cougars have and refers to how "exciting" they are to watch and how they have the city of Houston "fired up." The Cougars were also mentionedby Watt in the same company as theTexans,Houston Astrosand Houston Rockets,in regard to young talent.

That's not bad for a team that went unranked for several years.

The Cougars are now at No. 5 inESPN's Power Rankingsand will facethe Lamar Cardinals on Saturday at noon ET on ESPN3.
