HOUSTON --Texans defensive end Jadeveon Clowney and running back Lamar Miller will not play in Sunday's regular-season finale against the Tennessee Titans.
The team also ruled out outside linebacker John Simon (chest) and fullback Jay Prosch (ankle/knee) on Friday. Neither Clowney, Miller nor Simon practiced this week.
Clowney has been dealing with wrist and elbow injuries for most of the season, and Miller injured his ankle near the end of the Texans' Week 15 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
This season, Clowney has been one of Houston's best defensive players and has played well at defensive end, especially while the Texans are missing J.J. Watt. He has 52 tackles, a forced fumble and six sacks in 14 games.
Miller did not play in Week 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals, and running back Alfred Blue started in his place, running for 73 yards on 21 carries.
Miller has started all but one game this season, running for 1,073 yards on 268 carries and five touchdowns.
Even though Sunday's game will not affect the playoff race, as the Texans have clinched the AFC South and the No. 4 seed, coach Bill O'Brien said Houston is playing to win and will not be resting healthy starters.
He did not comment on the status of players for the Texans' playoff game next week.
