Houston teen wins USA boxing junior Olympics
Ruth 'Milli' Diaz is soft spoken and kind of shy out of the ring, but in it she packs quite a punch

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Ruth "Milli" Diaz recently won the 112-pound division of the US Boxing Jr. Olympics.

Milli is soft spoken and kind of shy out of the ring, but in it she packs quite a punch. She says people tell her she doesn't look like a boxer because she tries to be friendly to everyone, in the ring its different. Millie's journey to a championship has been a long one.

She arrived in Houston eight years ago from El Salvador not knowing any English. Her grandparents brought her to Savannah's Boxing Gym to be around bilinguel kids to learn English. A year later, she was in the ring.

Milli now has her sights set on competing in the 2016 Summer Olympics.
