The Buffalo Sabres have suspended forward Evander Kane for sleeping in and missing practice Monday after he attended the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday in Toronto.
After Kane helped the Sabres to a 4-1 win over the Colorado Avalancheon Sunday at First Niagara Center in Buffalo, he took a private plane to attend the All-Star Game at Air Canada Centre.
"He slept in, called [GM] Tim [Murray] and myself, broke a team rule," coach Dan Bylsma told reporters after practice Monday. "We'll be dealing with it internally, but he will not be playing in Ottawa. I'm disappointed."
Kane has been playing well of late, posting five goals in the past six games.
"We got out of here about 3:30 [after Sunday's game]. He could have made it to the game just fine and back," Bylsma said.
