ARLINGTON, Texas -- Right-hander Don Straily has been designated for assignment for the Houston Astros.

Houston made the move before Wednesday's series finale at Texas, and a day after Straily's spot start against the Rangers. The Astros expect him to remain in their organization.

The Astros recalled right-hander Asher Wojciechowski from Triple-A Fresno.

Houston also re-signed left-hander Joe Thatcher, who had been designated for assignment July 21 and opted a week later to become a free agent after clearing waivers. He is expected to join Fresno this weekend.

Straily pitched 4 2/3 innings in Tuesday night's loss, going on short rest. He was called up after Tuesday's expected starter, Mike Fiers, had to pitch five innings in relief Monday.
