Dan Haren's start kicks in '15 option

It was a $10.5 million night for Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Dan Haren.

With six innings pitched in the books, Haren hit 180 innings pitched on the season, which guaranteed a $10 million option for next season.

With the 180 innings, Haren also got a $500,000 bonus. Before today, the 34-year-old had already earned $1.5 million in bonuses based on games played and innings pitched.

Since it's his option, Haren doesn't have to stay with the Dodgers and can become a free agent, but should he choose to do so, not only does Haren get the right to take the $10 million, but his contract provides that he can get the same $3 million in bonuses, which start at 24 games played and 150 innings pitched.

Haren signed his one-year, $10 million deal with the Dodgers this year after a one year stint with the Washington Nationals.

Haren, who is 13-11 on the season, allowed two runs and struck out seven over seven innings, but did not factor in the decision as he left the game with the Dodgers tied 2-2 with the San Francisco Giants.
