C.J. McCollum agrees to $106 million extension with Trail Blazers

The Portland Trail Blazers and star guard C.J. McCollum have reached an agreement on a four-year extension worth $106 million, as first reported Monday by The Vertical and confirmed by ESPN's Ramona Shelburne.

McCollum, 24, was voted as the NBA's Most Improved Player this year after a breakthrough third season with the Blazers.

The 6-foot-4 McCollum averaged career highs of 20.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists in 80 games last season, his first as a full-time starter.

McCollum's emergence helped the Blazers, who was expected to be a rebuilding team in 2015-16, make a surprise run to the playoffs, where they upset the Clippers in the first round before being eliminated by the Warriors.
