ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- Calvin Johnson returned to practice for the Detroit Lions on Friday and did a full complement of work during the team's individual workouts.
Johnson missed two days of practice due to an ankle injury he suffered last Sunday against Green Bay.
Both after the game and again Wednesday, Johnson indicated that he was fine and was planning on playing against the New York Jets on Sunday.
"He's one of those guys that physically, he's an unusual individual," Lions coach Jim Caldwell said before practice Friday. "He responds quickly to treatment. He bounces back pretty quickly for the most part. What would ordinarily take some guys a little bit longer, he seems to be able to fight his way through it.
"He has an extremely high pain tolerance, as well, and he prepares and takes care of his body every single day of the year. That's where his focus is, and I think he benefits from that sort of regimen."
Johnson missed practices during the week last season as he dealt with knee and finger injuries that eventually required offseason surgery. Despite those injuries, he managed to play in 14 of 16 games.
This season, Johnson has 19 catches for 329 yards and two touchdowns.
While Johnson returned, the Lions may be without another one of their offensive weapons. Tight end Joseph Fauria missed his second straight practice after injuring his ankle Wednesday night in an off-field activity.
