Bears expected to land QB Mike Glennon, S Quintin Demps

The Chicago Bears are expected to sign quarterback Mike Glennon to a three-year, $45 million contract, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Glennon, 27, would get $19 million guaranteed.

The Bears are also expected to sign safety Quintin Demps to a three-year, $13.5 million contract with $5 million coming in the first year, sources told ESPN's Adam Caplan.

Glennon has seen action in 21 career games with 18 starts for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, though he hasn't started a game in the past two seasons.

In 2013, his rookie season, Glennon started 13 games and threw for 19 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He threw for 2,608 yards that year while completing 59 percent of his passes.

In 2014, he started five games for Josh McCown, completing 57.6 percent of his passes for 1,417 yards, 10 touchdowns and six interceptions. He has 30 career touchdown passes, 15 interceptions and a passer rating of 84.6.

A source told Caplan this week that the Bucs had made an offer to Glennon to make him the league's highest-paid backup, but he wanted to test the free-agent market and look for a starting job.

Demps, 31, was a key part of the Texans' defensive unit that finished the regular season ranked second in passing defense in the league, allowing an average of just 202 passing yards per game.

He had a team-leading six interceptions, including four consecutive games with an interception and five in six during Weeks 12 to 17, which was the most in the NFL during that span.

Demps was signed during training camp before the 2015 season and spent two years during his latest stint with the Texans, both on one-year deals that he has outperformed. Demps also played with the Texans from 2010-12 and also has had stops with the Eagles, Giants and Chiefs during his nine NFL seasons.

His 15 interceptions since 2013 are the fifth-most in the NFL and the third-most among safeties.
