Atascocita holds off late Kingwood rally

ATASCOCITA, TX -- Atascocita never trailed in last Friday night's close contest against rival Kingwood and staved off a late charge by the Mustangs to walk out of Turner Stadium with the 28-21 victory.

"A team like (Kingwood) runs the ball and limits your opportunities," Atascocita head football coach Craig Stump said. "When you play a team like that, you have to stay in front or else you won't get the ball back, so it was very important.

"I think defensively, we made the stops. We gave up the yards and bent a little bit, but we were able to stop them from scoring points and the offense made big plays."
