The Houston Astros are hoping that shortstop Carlos Correa, who has been out since June 26 with a stiff back, can return to action after the All-Star break.

Over the past few days, Correa has resumed baseball activities by taking ground balls, throwing, and swinging the bat prior to games in Houston.

Manager A.J. Hinch said Correa will be sent for a rehab assignment prior to returning to the Astros, who lead the American League West by three games over the Seattle Mariners entering Friday.

Correa is hitting .268 with 13 home runs and 49 RBIs in 73 games and recently had a streak of 70 errorless games.
