50 Cent in Houston to promote fight at Minute Maid Park
We caught up with the rap mogul Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson to get his thoughts on boxing, and his namesake

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- One of the most successful rappers in history, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, is also a boxing promoter. 50 Cent is in Houston this weekend, as a co-promoter for the Canelo Alvarez versus James Kirkland boxing match at Minute Maid Park this Saturday.

We caught up with the rap mogul to get his thoughts on boxing, and his namesake.

Nuno: "Obviously, I know your passion for boxing, but Kirkland versus Canelo, why is this the biggest fight of the year?"

50 Cent: "I just think the styles make the fight itself, makes for the most exciting fight we see this year."

Nuno: "I know you can fight -- but can you box?"

50 Cent: "I can man, I can, I do a little something. I ain't going let you just hit me in the head man, I'm slipping and moving."

Nuno: "What is it about rappers and athletes, and athletes and rappers? There is a similar bond?"

50 Cent: "Definitely, the passion for music is connected to the work. The discipline, and how long you have to dedicate yourself."

Nuno: "Who still calls you Curtis? Can I call you Curtis?

50 Cent: "Sure you can. When I am at the acting, they call me Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson. One my momma came up with, one I came up with. I ain't got no problem with it, which ever they are comfortable with."
