With Friday's stunning loss in the U.S. Open semifinals, Serena Williams' quest for the calendar-year Grand Slam has come to an end. She may not have achieved that title, but Williams is a winner off the court in ways that can't be measure by set points and trophies.

She isn't afraid to speak the truth.

During the post-game press conference following Williams' quarterfinals victory over her sister Venus, a reporter wondered why she didn't seem happy. Williams had a pretty frank response.

"It's 11:30 [p.m.] To be perfectly honest with you, I don't want to be here," she said. "I don't want to answer any of these questions and you keep asking me the same questions."

She puts her sister above her career.

Playing against her older sister had to be the most emotional leg of her journey to the calendar-year Grand Slam. But after defeating Venus, rather than posting about how excited she was to be moving on to the semifinals, Serena posted about how much she loves her big sis and best friend.

Her fashion game is on point.

On top of being ferociously fit, Williams knows how to look stunning. The fashion guru has her own line at HSN that's getting a show at New York Fashion Week and has made headlines with gorgeous gowns like the one she wore to the Wimbledon champion dinner.

She treats her dog like royalty.

Serena's dog, Chip, is the true star of her Instagram page. She calls him her "son" and posts photos of him joining her on her travels, hanging out on the court and just generally being adorable.

Her fan.

A 3-year-old fan got to meet Serena after a video of her saying "I'm like Serena" went viral. And boy was she excited.
