A Houston holiday tradition is on hold for 2 years

HOUSTON, Texas -- A Houston holiday tradition enjoyed by many families for years isn't going to happen this year, or even next.

Due to the construction of Post Oak Boulevard, the Annual Uptown Houston Holiday Lighting event, held on Thanksgiving evening, is being postponed until 2019.

Plans are underway to produce an all new Uptown Houston Holiday Lighting event.

"We have an opportunity to create an even more spectacular event and in incredible destination boulevard for the holidays," said John Breeding, President Uptown Houston District. "Many of the new elements on the boulevard will become future holiday decorations."

Further details on the changes being made to the event are not yet available.

The traditional Thanksgiving evening event will recommence November 2019.
