Mr. & Mrs. Bollywood pageant held in Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Hundreds of people attended the Mr. and Mrs. Bollywood pageant in downtown Houston.

But these aren't your average pageant contestants. The women are all married, tearing down stereotypes.

"It's a stigma. Like if you're married, your life is over and there's no way to go on but we are setting the example for the Indian community," said one contestant.

The contestants ranged from 23 to 48 years old.

"I want to set an example for my daughter, for other women out there that just because you get married, doesn't mean you stop living," said another contestant.
