Donations pour in for family who lost everything
People they don't know are helping a family who lost everything to a house fire

MISSOURI CITY, TX (KTRK) -- When Glover Elementary school counselor Felicia Johnson heard about the fire which destroyed the home of three students attending her school, she knew she had to help.

The blaze, which occurred November 9th, tore through the home on Indian Trail in Missouri City. The family, including four children aged 6 to 13, lost almost everything.

"If my kids alright, I'll be alright. I ain't care about nothing else," says Jerbreda Brown, the mother of those children.

When Johnson found out about the tragedy she sent an email to the staff at Glover Elementary asking for donations. Not only did the staff respond, but they shared the request with other Fort Bend ISD employees and many friends in the community. So far they have collected more than $1,300 worth of donations.

Johnson says, "I have the greatest coworkers in the world. I just ask them to do stuff and they never tell me no."

Johnson's office is full of food, clothing, toys and other items, most of which were given by people the intended recipients don't even know.

Brown says, "I think it's awesome. It's a blessing. I don't know I'm speechless. I'm thankful. It's good to know that someone do care."
