'Charlie's Chair' dedicated at Triangle Park
It's named after Charlie George, who recently died of leukemia

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A community is honoring a neighbor, and the neighborhood spirit, with a chair for everyone to enjoy.

Charlie's Chair was dedicated at Triangle Park in Garden Oaks Wednesday evening. It's named after Charlie George, who recently died of leukemia. He had trouble walking during his illness, so neighbors put chairs in their yards so he could rest while walking his dogs. Those neighbors are keeping his memory alive with the memorial chair.

"It's right by where Charlie's house is. And so Sandra his wife can see the chair at any moment when she walks the dogs," said Kristin Flanagan, who painted the flowers of the chair.

The red chair is painted with flowers like the flowers neighbors put in their own chairs after George died.
