Beloved University of Houston squirrel dies
Students are raising money to host a memorial for the squirrel and have it stuffed for future Coogs.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- It was a sad day on University of Houston's campus Monday when the beloved campus squirrel passed away.

For years, this white-nosed and white-tailed squirrel was well known on campus and thought to bring good luck, especially to students studying for mid-terms.

Now, some students want to preserve the legacy of the white squirrel by having it stuffed and preserved for future Coogs. They are also working towards a ceremony to celebrate the squirrel's life. A GoFundMe has been set up for these efforts.

A memorial has already been started on campus featuring a three-sided poster board, ketchup packets, a tennis ball, soda, curly and waffle fries, and even a candle.
