'Before I Die' wall helping Houstonians live life to the fullest

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- In a city of more than six million people, every second can feel like a countdown. A global interactive art project is giving Houstonians an opportunity to determine not just what they want, but what they really need.

It's called the "Before I Die" wall. The chalk boards allow individuals of all ages to reflect on their lives while publicly sharing their bucket list. The personal goals of those that Eyewitness News spoke to included everything from meeting Beyonc to finding love before they died.

For Jaecel and Jaimin Shah, the wall has so much more meaning. The two Memorial Hermann doctors lost their mother, Vini Shah, last year when she died after contracting meningitis.

"One of my biggest fears, I think when you lose someone, is that they're going to be forgotten. Like you know you may remember them, but people around may forget them," said Dr. Jaecel Shah, Resident Physician ENT at at Memorial Hermann-TMC and UTHealth Medical School.

The "Before I Die" wall was organized by the brothers as a way to remind Houstonians to live life to the fullest.

"I just want them to take that project and evaluate their lives and try to figure out goals and dreams they have that they maybe they have not been able to express," said Dr. Jaiman Shah, Resident Physician OB/GYN at at Memorial Hermann-TMC and UTHealth Medical School.

The "Before I Die" wall is located at Midtown Park, at the corner of Gray and Bagby.
