Woman robbed at gunpoint during online sale
An attempt to buy a used phone went terribly wrong for one local woman.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A Houston woman told abc13 she was robbed at gunpoint after deciding to buy a cell phone on the app OfferUp.

Janezia Collins said she agreed to meet the seller at town homes on Montgomery Road in northwest Harris County. Collins said the person on the other end of the online conversation turned out to be a crook. He and at least 6 accomplices grabbed her, held her at gunpoint and stole two hundred dollars.

"I feel violated in a way that I can't describe," said Collins. "Every time I close my eyes, I see the gun in my face and the guy. That's all I see."

The Harris County's Sheriff Office is investigating the robbery. So far, they haven't made any arrests.

OfferUp provided this comment to abc13 and directed us to a safety section on their website:

"Providing a trusted experience for our users is a primary focus for OfferUp, and we do not tolerate criminal activity. We are offering assistance to the Harris County Sheriff's Office for its investigation."
