Samsung recalls washing machines that may explode
WASHINGTON (KTRK) -- Samsung says it is recalling nearly 3 million of their top-loading washing machines after hundreds of reports of explosions.
Nine people were injured after the top of the affected united completely blew off, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says.

Samsung says a design failure meant the top was not fully secured, leaving users vulnerable to injury.
In all, 34 Samsung top-loading models sold from March 2011 to November 2016 are affected by the recall.
These units were sold at Home Depot, Best Buy, Lowes, Sears and other home appliance stores.

The company says consumers can get a free in-home repair, a rebate towards the purchase of a new Samsung or other brand washing machine, or a full refund depending on when the machine was purchased.
