Here's one squid that will terrify you from going into the ocean again.

The Kalkoura marine Centre and Aquarium in New Zealand uploaded images of a giant squid that washed up on on a local beach on Tuesday. The squid's mantle is more than 6.6 feet long, its eye is 3.15 inches wide, and its longest tentacle measures more than 16.4 feet in length.

The squid was identified as a female, and that there was no indication of how the creature died, the aquarium owner and marine biologist Megan Lewis told the Marlborough Express.

"They tend to grow very fast and live not very long," Lewis said.

The aquarium said samples of the squid were sent to universities in New Zealand for further research.

This isn't the first time a giant squid has found itself upon New Zealand shores. In 2013, a similarly large squid was found dead after being attacked by a larger one, according to ABC News.
