Space fans are over the moon about a major discovery on Mars - however, they don't know what it is quite yet.

There's a lot of speculation after NASA tweeted they'll be telling us on Monday that a mystery about the Red Planet has been solved.

"I suspect it's going to be something that will increase our interest in going to Mars," former astronaut Mike Massimino said.

NASA tweeted Saturday that a Mars mystery has been solved and on Monday, scientists say they will reveal an out-of-this-world discovery.

Galaxy gazers are hopeful, exploding social media with alien speculation. But what could that mean?

"That there is some sort of life form that might be discovered, and it's also the possibility that you could support human life there," Massimino answered.

Since 2006, scientists have been taking a closer look at water on Mars and just earlier this year, there were talks that the Mars Rover spotted an ancient lake bed.

And with the soon-to-be-released Matt Damon click "The Martian," Maris is back on our radar.

However the stars align, this latest discovery will surely be astronomical.
