WASHINGTON (KTRK) -- Hillary Clinton is getting a boost from one of the most unlikely of places: the Libertarian Party candidate for vice president.

Former Massachusetts Governor Bill Weld said he was "outraged" by the FBI's new investigation into Hillary Clinton's email server.

Weld, who also served in the Justice Department, says the announcement of a new investigation just 10 days before the presidential election was a violation of Justice Department policies and procedures.

"They're playing hit and run," Weld said on CNN.

Local voters react to news of new FBI investigation into Clinton's emails, Deborah Wrigley reports.

"There's no way for Mrs. Clinton to know what the evidentiary basis is on which they made this update to their investigation, and they've said themselves they don't know, so that just makes it all the more unreasonable to have waded into these waters in the first place."

FBI Director James Comey informed Congress on Friday they would open a new investigation after finding emails on a device shared by former New York Congressman Anthony Weiner and close Clinton aide Huma Abedin.

Weld said Mr. Comey was concerned about criticism from Congress and that he did the right thing in July when he concluded that no reasonable prosecutor would bring criminal charges in the case.
