'Butter' the dog caught slipping out of his cage

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- An adorable little dog was caught red-handed (or is that red-pawed?) as he attempted to escape his cage.

His name is Butter and he's a slippery character, as his name suggests.

The four-month old Yorkie has become a cherished family member since moving into a Houston radio personality's home in December.

But, Ayana Mack says she soon found out the puppy had a sneaky way of evading a wire fence inside the home.

"Before I could get home, my husband would call and say, 'Why are you letting the dog out?'" Mack says. "But I wasn't! He was getting out, but I didn't exactly know how."

Then one day, Mack realized her usually yappy Butter was as quiet as a mouse.

The video she caught on her smartphone thereafter is a hilarious exchange between an owner and her puppy.

"I came around the corner with my phone in hand, and I see him hanging over the top of his little gate," she says.

The adorable puppy looks away in shame as he's confronted, teetering on the top of the wire cage.

What ensues is a hilarious video of Mack and Butter as they 'bark' it out.

"Butter talks back a little bit," she says. "I think he tries to convince me it wasn't him, denying everything before we just agree to disagree."

The family has since bought Butter a kennel with four walls.
