Daisy the dachshund protects family from bear

EUSTIS, FL (KTRK) -- A brave dachshund protected her family from a bear in Eustis, FL.

Krystal Long and her son were in the garage of their home when she spotted the bear.

Daisy the dachshund heard Long scream and attacked the bear. She was badly mauled, but the bear ran off.

Long said, "My heart is just so grateful for her."

Daisy suffered broken ribs and serious cuts. She had to have surgery but will be fine.

The family has created a GoFundMe account to help pay for thousands of dollars of medical bills for Daisy.
