Officer fatally shoots burglar prowling in La Marque neighborhood

LA MARQUE, Texas (KTRK) -- An armed suspected burglar was shot and killed overnight during a confrontation with police in a La Marque neighborhood.

According to authorities, police were called to the 800 block of Retama just after 10 p.m. Sunday on a reported burglary in which the suspect threatened a resident with a deadly weapon.

Police said the suspect ran from the house to a neighboring home where an officer confronted the assailant. The suspect was then shot and killed.

The Galveston County district attorney and sheriff's offices are investigating the incident.
