Woman upset about alleged scuffle over scooter at NW Harris Co. Walmart

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Elsa may have sang it from the mountain top, but as it turns out, letting go in real life isn't so simple.

Latarsha Norris went searching for a "Frozen" themed toy this weekend, and ended up in the middle of a fight.

"I went to Walmart to get a toy, the Frozen scooter for my 3-year-old niece," recalled Norris.

She went to a Walmart in the 13000 block of Tomball Parkway. Picking out a three-wheel scooter was easy enough.

"It was $19.97 on the shelf, marked for $19.97, but supposedly when I got to the register, it was for $24.97," said Norris.

Eyewitness News went inside the store to determine what Norris was complaining about. The Frozen scooter is on a shelf where a $19.97 sticker was closely visible. However, that sticker is for a different product.

The correct Frozen scooter price tag is a few inches away on the same shelf at $24.96. Norris says an assistant manager refused to honor the lower price, and that's when the two women came to blows.

"She was like 'Calm down. Don't put the finger in my face,' and I'm like, 'I am calm,'" said Norris. "I was like 'You need to take care of this,' and that's when she grabbed me, around my neck."

Norris says she still has the scratch marks to show for it. Upset, she filed a report with the Harris County Sheriff's Office. Investigators who watched the surveillance video were not convinced any crimes were committed.

"They told me it looks like I hit her first,' looks like.'"

Norris refuses to let it go. She wants Walmart to discipline the manager. The company would not address the specifics of the allegation, but did release a statement, saying "The safety of our associates and customers is a top priority. We have provided surveillance video to the police and will continue to work with them in their ongoing investigation."
