Why are panhandlers in SF getting signs handed to them
The signs are part of a social experiment

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (KTRK) -- Some eye-catching signs are bringing attention to some of San Francisco's homeless. They're part of a social experiment, thought up by one man inspired to help make those people more visible.

Anthony Bustos began making humorous signs to hand out to panhandlers on the street, the idea being that people might give spare change if they had a smile on their face.

So far, the signs have been met with positive feedback with others volunteering to make more.
