School bus driver accused of watching TV while driving

FORT MYERS, FL -- These days, your entertainment can go everywhere your smartphone can. But that doesn't mean you should use it.

In Florida, a school bus driver is accused of watching videos while operating the vehicle, a possible case of distracted driving all caught on camera.

Christian Holden is the father of one of the students on the bus.

Eyewitness News has obtained exclusive video from inside a Klein ISD school bus that was nearly struck by a train earlier this month.

He says his sixth grade daughter Zoe is now afraid of riding her school bus after the incident.

"The kids are in the back talking about the fact she's watching TV while driving," Holden says. "I mean, to me, that's insane."

Zoe says the incident was "really dangerous" because of the risk of a crash.

Students of a local Houston-area high school captured heart-stopping video of a train nearly missing their school bus.

The student says this isn't the first time the bus driver has been caught do this, either. Zoe says she often catches her watching videos, even going to social media apps.

Once, she even ran a red light, Zoe claims.

"The light turned red and that she went right by it, and I was kinda like, 'Oh God,'" she says.

HISD approved a measure that requires students on buses with 3-point seat belts to wear them.

The Lee County School District says drivers are not allowed to use cell phones unless it is an emergency.

The bus driver has been removed from the route while they investigate.
