A man is wanted by police in an alleged sexual assault at a Houston gas station

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police are searching for a man they say sexually assaulted a woman at a Houston gas station.

A $5,000 reward is now offered. Watch the video above for images of the suspect police are seeking in the case.

The sex assault happened on May 8 around 12:00pm at a gas station in the 1100 block of Almeda Genoa Road. A woman says a black man approached her and pushed her onto the driver side seat and climbed on top of her. Police say he attempted to lift her shirt as she hit him several times on his head. When the man stepped back momentarily, according to police, the woman used the opportunity to run away and call for help.

Authorities say the man did not take anything and fled the scene in a red SUV.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5'07" - 5'09", with a clean-shaven head and face and wearing a purple shirt.
