Gunshot fired during home invasion
Investigators don't have a description of the home invasion suspects who fired at a homeowner in NW Harris Co. Monday morning

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A Vietnam veteran is recovering in the hospital after a violent home invasion, according to family members. The man was shot around 3:30am in his home on Mickleham Drive in the Champions Forest neighborhood.

The man's daughter said an armed intruder woke up her parents and pointed a gun at them. He fought back before being shot in the head. Miraculously, he suffered just a superficial wound. Deputies said he's lucky to be alive given the circumstances.

Neighbors in the subdivision, like Todd Field, were taken back by the violence.

"It's scary. It's scary. Thank God the gentleman is OK," said Field. "I know it sounds clich, but you never think it's going to happen in your neighborhood."

Deputies revealed they're working with very little information at this point. They couldn't specify how many intruders entered the home, saying anywhere between two and four. They also could not prove a description of the wanted men.
