HOUSTON -- Two men are dead after a Wednesday afternoon shooting in southwest Houston.
It happened just before 5pm in the 14000 block of South Main. Homicide detectives say they aren't sure what sparked the shooting but do know it was between two groups of men.
We're told one of the men died on the scene. The second victim was able to cross the street into another parking lot, jumped a fenced before collapsing at a nearby motel. He was transported to the hospital, where he later died.
Witnesses described the frightening moments when the shots were fired.
"Everybody was taking off running, ducking to the ground these guys were not playing with whatever the problem was they were not playing about it," witness Marco Perez said.
There are still a lot of questions as investigators continue to look for clues and talk to witnesses. Police say they'll have a better idea of what happened once they can take a look at the surveillance video from nearby cameras.
Police say they have one person detained and are in the process of interrogating him. As for suspects, they're still being tracked down.
Police have not identified the victims.
