Three shot on campus of hospital in Delaware County in Pennsylvania

DARBY, PA -- Police are on the scene at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital where there are reports that three people, including a doctor, have been shot.

It was around 2:15 this afternoon when Darby Borough Police were called out to the hospital's wellness center, located across the street from the main building on Lansdowne Avenue, for the report of a shooting.

There are reports that a doctor was shot in the head on the third floor of the hospital. Two others were also injured in the incident.

Action News has learned that among the injured was a 52-year-old male, who suffered multiple graze wounds to the head and torso.

Official sources tell Action News that there were around seven shots fired. One gunman is in custody and there are reports of possibly another gunmen inside the building.

The hospital has been evacuated and police from as far away as Upper Darby and Haverford townships have responded to the hospital campus. Officers with heavy artillery are now moving in to secure the scene.

Every worker is being checked while leaving the buildings.

There is no word on the victims' condition at this time.
