Dentist has terrifying encounter with shark
Dr. Steven Cutbirth received stitches after the shark attacked him Saturday in the Bahamas.

WACO, TX (KTRK) -- We're hearing from a Waco dentist who survived a horrific shark attack over the weekend.

Dr. Steven Cutbirth received stitches after the shark attacked him Saturday in the Bahamas. He was spear fishing at the time.

As he prepared to come to the surface, a bull shark bit him several times on the head and leg.

We talked to him Wednesday via Skype about the encounter.

"The shark is not to blame," he said. "He was just doing his job, trying to keep the ocean clean by eating dead or injured fish."

He has multiple stitches but is doing OK.

The nurse says Dr. Cutbirth actually helped to keep her calm!
