Teen arrested in deadly crime spree
A 17-year-old is charged with capital murder

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- On the counter of a Philips 66 truck stop on the Eastex Freeway near Beltway 8, not far from the busy cash registers, is a collection of floral arrangements with condolence cards.

They've been arriving at the business since Monday. The night before, Satishkumar Patel, the late-night manager, was shot and killed during a robbery. Security cameras recorded the murder from start to finish. The gunman and his accomplice got away -- for awhile.

Now, a 17-year-old suspect is in jail, charged with two counts of capital murder and being questioned about the killing of his accomplice.

Anthony Shannon Jamerson was encountered Wednesday, called to the scene of a homicide. In the backseat of a car, was the body of 18-year-old Jaylen Townsel. It's believed Townsel, along with Jamerson, allegedly robbed the Philips 66 truck stop. Jamerson however, claimed he and his friend were robbed -- displaying a gunshot wound to his finger he claimed he sustained in the robbery. A probable cause warrants states instead the injury was a result of Jamerson's pistol accidentally firing during the truck stop robbery days before.

The teenager is also accused in the robbery murder of a guest at a north Houston motel last month. Ten thousand dollars was taken in that robbery.

Jamerson, also known as "Ant," is being held without bond. He will make his first court appearance Monday.

Back at the truck stop, the owner, who is a cousin of the late Mr. Patel, says justice has been half-served, with the death of one of the accused. Now he waits to see what a jury will decide.

The investigation continues. There may be others involved in the crimes.
