Worthing HS teacher accused of inappropriate relationship with student

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A teacher at HISD's Worthing High School is under investigation following an allegation of having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

That teacher has not been arrested, but has been removed from the classroom, according to a letter sent home Thursday to parents of students who attend Worthing.

According the school district, the incident is said to have occurred off campus but during school hours.

"Unfortunately, I cannot provide additional details at this time because of the ongoing investigation, but please know we take these situations very seriously. The safety of our students here at Worthing is always my absolute top priority," Principal John Modest said.

The district won't say yet how it learned of the allegation nor will it detail any of the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident.
