Husband and wife found dead in home
Husband and wife are found dead after a SWAT standoff near Richmond.

RICHMOND, TX (KTRK) -- A husband appears to have killed his wife before fatally shooting himself in the head, according to authorities. It happened at a home in an unincorporated area of Richmond.

The pair has a three-year-old child who was unhurt and is now being cared for by grandparents, investigators said.

Family from out of state asked deputies with the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office to check on the victim, Sherilyn Gordon Burroughs.

Deputies arrived and spoke to her husband Daniel Burroughs. They weren't able to speak with her and eventually the SWAT team responded. As they used a vehicle-mounted ramming device to open the doors Daniel shot himself in the head with a shotgun, detectives said.

Sherilyn, who was a surgeon in Houston, was found dead upstairs. Her cause of death has not been released pending an autopsy.
