CROSBY, TX (KTRK) -- The Crosby community is grieving after a middle school student was struck and killed by a vehicle on his way to school Friday morning.
It happened at around 6am along Highway 90 near Bohemian Hall. We're told the 13-year-old Crosby Middle School student regularly rides his bicycle to school.
According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, the driver who hit him initially didn't stop, but did come back to the scene and talked to deputies.
The tragedy has shaken up the small town of Crosby.
"In our community, I think the ties are close and close-knit and when something like this happens, it doesn't take long to know the person or know a family member or know someone who knows that person," said Crosby ISD Superintendent
Dr. Keith Moore. "So it resonates very quickly with a lot of people in Crosby when something like that happens."
Counselors were at the middle school throughout the day to talk to students and teachers. No word on any possible charges.
