Clerks took action during a would-be robbery
Store employees put the suspect in a chokehold, and his partners eventually took off without him

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Some determined convenience store employees are being credited with stopping some suspected robbers in their tracks.

At about 2:30pm Wednesday, Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to the Citgo Service Station and convenience story on Highway 6 at Old Richmond Road in the Houston area of Fort Bend County.

Store owners said three males -- one believed to be white, the other two Hispanic -- entered the store and began browsing around. One suspect walked to a kiosk where cell phones were being sold. He knelt behind the kiosk and began taking cell phones.

At that point, store personnel confronted the suspect and began to wrestle with him in order to get the cell phones back. The suspect was put into a choke hold and eventually he was subdued. However, another suspect re-entered the store and threatened to kill the store personnel if they didn't let his cohort go.

The suspect who made the threat retreated outside and he and the other suspect left in their vehicle, which is a silver BMW. The last suspect left the store without his shoes. His partners did not wait for him and he left on foot.

The first suspect is described as a white male, about 5-feet, 10-inches tall and weighing about 175 to 185 pounds. He was wearing a dark shirt over a striped undershirt and gray shorts. The second suspect appears to be a Hispanic male, about 6-feet tall with a bandanna on his head with sunglasses around the bandanna. He had long black hair, a mustache and beard and wore a green t-shirt and blue jeans. A description of the third suspect was not available.

No injuries were reported and the would-be robbers left empty-handed.

Information which leads to the apprehension and filing of charges on the suspects involved could earn a reward of up to $5,000. Call 281-342-TIPS (8477) or text FBCCS plus your tip to CRIMES (274637).
