HOUSTON -- The state has rested in the trial of a mother accused of burying her two-month-old in a muddy puddle.
On Monday, a detective testified that Narjes Modarresi showed no remorse during his initial interview with her. Prosecutors also played a recording of another police interview, during which the defendant said, "I was tired of my situation."
That was her response to a question about why she put her son in the ground.
If convicted, Modarresi could face life without parole. Her attorney claims she is mentally ill.
The defense begins its case first thing in the morning.
