The rash of smash-and-grab burglaries continues across the Houston area

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A smash and grab in North Houston has temporarily put a store owner out of business.

Around 3:30 this morning police were called to the Texaco at Airline and Cavalcade. Dramatic surveillance video shows the thieves smashing a white pick up into the side of Texaco. The video shows several men running in and out rummaging through the store.

The crooks destroyed parts of the store causing a great amount of damage but really didn't get away with anything of real value.

"I don't think they got away with much. Maybe a few items but no money or anything," said Furgan Hemani.

The owner estimates total loss is around $35,000. He says a witness must have scared the thieves because they left without taking the ATM.
