Several crews battle overnight New Waverly lumber yard firea

NEW WAVERLY, TX (KTRK) -- Several crews from a three different fire departments battled a fire at a New Waverly lumber yard overnight.

It happened at the Universal Forest Products plant on FM 2793 near State Highway 75. Investigators say a lumber kiln on the property was on fire.

New Waverly firefighters, along with crews from Huntsville and North Montgomery County were able to contain the damage to the lumber kiln and spare several adjacent buildings.

The fire was under control in about 90 minutes. The lumber kiln was completely destroyed but nearby buildings only suffered minor heat damage.
